About This Quote
When the king in the fairytale says, “And how will this come to pass?” it is a question being asked by a character in the story. This character is acting in the capacity of a watcher who is interested in how everything will unfold. The watcher does not have control over what happens. He or she does have some power over what they watch unfold, but that power is limited.
The watcher cannot do anything to change what happens to the characters. So when the king asks this question, he is watching the plot unfold, trying to understand how life will play out.
